Open Items

Learn how to review and resolve open ICHRA administrative items that require additional information, confirmation, or follow-up.

Sep 11, 2026

Open items are administrative matters that still require information, confirmation, or follow-up. Addressing them promptly helps prevent delays and keeps the ICHRA program aligned with the employer's established plan terms and timelines.

An open item may involve incomplete employee details, requested documentation, an unanswered eligibility question, an upcoming effective date, or information needed before an enrollment, allowance, billing, or plan-related matter can move forward. An open item does not necessarily indicate a problem or interruption in coverage.

Employers should review open items promptly, provide accurate information, and include any requested supporting documentation. When an item depends on employee action, the employee should receive clear instructions and sufficient time to respond.

Related matters may also be addressed in Employee Changes, Missing Information, and Plan-Year Tasks.

Employers remain responsible for resolving workforce and plan-related questions and maintaining the records required under their plan terms.
