How to Handle ICHRA Plan Selection and Enrollment Issues

Learn what to do when an employee has not completed plan selection, finds an error, or submits an application that needs to be corrected.

An employee who is eligible for an ICHRA but has not selected and completed enrollment does not have active individual insurance coverage through the program.

Before the applicable deadline, determine whether the employee:

  • Is still comparing plans

  • Needs licensed assistance

  • Intends to use another source of coverage

  • Has started an application

  • Plans to opt out of the ICHRA

Document the employee's status and any required election or opt-out information.

Correcting a plan selection

If an employee identifies an error or wants to change plans after submitting an application, contact Lirvion Support or the licensed broker supporting the account before submitting another application.

The correction process depends on the enrollment path, carrier, application status, enrollment deadline, and requested effective date.

Common issues include:

  • Incorrect personal information

  • Missing or incorrect dependents

  • Incorrect effective date

  • Incorrect plan selection

  • Missing carrier information

Do not submit a duplicate application unless directed to do so. Duplicate applications can delay processing and create conflicting coverage records.
